Scaling Enterprise Design Systems

Context / Role
I led the creation and operationalization of enterprise design systems at Walgreens and other large organizations, enabling teams across geographies to deliver consistent, user-centered experiences. I directed cross-functional teams to define standards, governance, and workflows that scaled design practices across enterprise platforms.

Challenge
- Distributed teams produced inconsistent user experiences.
- Legacy processes slowed product delivery and increased rework.
- Designs needed to comply with complex regulatory and technical requirements.

Approach
- Established a centralized Design System with UX principles, visual language, component libraries, and content guidelines.
- Created governance frameworks for adoption, contribution, and review across global product teams.
- Operationalized Design Operations: standardized workflows, intake processes, and delivery practices.
- Integrated user research and feedback loops to evolve the system based on data and usability insights.
- Advocated for executive alignment to ensure adoption and strategic support.

Results / Impact
- Reduced design inconsistencies and improved user satisfaction.
- Accelerated development timelines and reduced iteration cycles.
- Enabled global adoption of design standards and practices.
- Supported measurable business outcomes through efficient delivery, product modernization, and higher operational quality.
